But what about your New year resolution?

Spread the love
I am writing on the prompt “Gone with the wind” – What I say and what I actually do when I make resolutions every year!

Resolution # 1: Morning and Night Walks

January 1
Husband: Good Morning Honey, its 5 am, come on, get up for the walk.
Me: Yayyy! Happy New Year Hun. Yes, let’s get ready. I have my new shoes and track pants ready.
January 7
Husband: Good Morning Honey, its 5 am, come on, get up for the walk.
Me (Snuggling back in my blanket): No not today please! Kids didn’t sleep well last night, I need some more sleep.
Husband: But what about your resolution?
Me: Oh! It can wait for a day.
January 8:
Husband: Good Morning Baby, its 5 am, come on, get up for the walk.
Me (Pulling my blanket back): No not again today, please! I had a late night call yesterday, I am so groggy.
Husband: But what about your resolution?
Me: Oh! It can wait for a day.
January 9:
Husband: Good Morning Baby, so are you coming for the walk today?
Me: Hmmm No!
Husband: Look its such a beautiful morning, its snowing and you love to go out in the snow right?
Me: Ya but I love my sleep more. I will go tonight, promise.
Husband: But what about your resolution?
Me: Oh! It can wait for a day.
Same night
Husband: Ah! what a scrumptious meal it was, time to go on a walk.
Me: I had a terribly long day with kids, I can’t go.
Husband: But you promised in the morning and what about your resolution?
Me: Oh! it can wait for a day………………Tomorrow!
And then tomorrow never comes!!!

Resolution #2: Eat healthily and on time, no skipping meals, no junk

January 1:

Husband: Good evening darling! So…had your lunch?

Me: Oh yes! I had it sharp at 1 pm, what about you?

Husband: Wow! I’m impressed. Yes, I finished too. By the way, just a reminder to have milk and fruits.

Me: I already had milk. And don’t worry, I have taken a resolution this year. Just wait and watch, I will be fit throughout the year. And yes, I have my plate of salad and fruits ready, will have it now. It looks so colorful and tempting.

January 7:

Husband: Good evening darling! So…had your lunch?

Me: No! Had to reply to all the pending emails and send the weekly report to my boss. But, I had coffee.

Husband: OKAY!!! And what about the fruits? They look so colorful and tempting, no?

Me: Oh! I was so full after having coffee. Moreover coffee and fruits don’t go together. Will have it tomorrow.

January 8:

Husband: Hi Hun, hope you had your lunch, milk, and fruits on time today?

Me: mmmm….well I got so engrossed in writing the new post that I didn’t realize the time. So, missed the lunch. 4 O’clock is no time for lunch, no. I have taken a resolution, I should eat timely only. So, had Maggi.

Husband: But you took a resolution not to eat junk.

Me: Yes, yes, I ate it after 10 long days. No junk at all.

Husband: And which fruit did you munched on today?

Me: mmmm…I will have it from tomorrow, promise.

And then, TOMORROW never comes!!!

So, this is my story about taking resolutions every year. What’s yours?

Great going Vartika. You have written a true story. And you are really fortunate to have a very caring husband -“Read between the lines.” Makes a perfect couple.

Hey Vartika!! I totally can relate to this. We have so many excuses and its quite hard to keep up with resolutions every year. Specially eating healthy with no junk is such a damn thing for me. OMG I can’t somehow stay with this resolution every year. You reminded me how I have excuses every year!! Great post!!

‘Life will be giddy and unsteady if you keep solving the same problem repeatedly. Come on, be adventurous. Go looking for fresh problems to solve.’ Quote picked from my own post on this prompt. Applies here. 🙂

Tomorrow never dies, is not just the name of famous James Bond movie but also the tag line of all who belong to clan of “Resolutions-Die-Fast”! I belong to it and can see that you also are a bird of same feather.
Keeping fingers crossed Vartika, that “tomorrow” will dawn some day, one day for all of us.
A good light read it is!

I did this for the most of last year! The whole of last year, my husband continuously reminded me to do the PLANK. I was like sure.. This year, my husband told me to Keep it Cool and I am like no, I need my planks! 🙂 Since I decided on Calm as my WOTY, I need my exercises to calm my nerves! Maybe it’s still Jan right and I am over-enthusiastic! 😉

Nevertheless, I must agree on the healthy food thingy! Laughed and such a cute couple photo, that!

I’m going rofl. This is why I gave up on resolutions. Why waste time on something that I know that I will never maintain. Living life happily is more important (all excuses, I know)
