Book Review – “The Krishnapur Kidnappings” by Sitharaam Jayakumar

Spread the love

After reading the first book by Sitharaam Jayakumar, I was tempted to read his another book too. So, here is my review of “The Krishnapur Kidnappings”.

Author: Sitharaam Jayakumar who blogs at http://www.jaispoetryblog.com/
Rating: 5/5
Genre: Suspense Thriller, Mystery
Plot:

As the name indicates, this is a story of multiple kidnappings of the kids in a city named Krishnapur. The strange and common part in all the abductions was that there was no call for ransom. This makes these cases more puzzling as the Inspector suspects there is some deep and sinister motive behind it. With the exceptional case solving skills, logical reasoning and great observation, Inspector Ranjan Raghav and his team member Mathur solve this case in a phenomenal way.

Summary:

A 7th-grade student of an International School, Jane Sridhar who was very excited to perform on the stage disappears from the backstage just before her performance. All the teachers, Principal and her single mother were shocked and started searching for her but there was no luck. Soon after this incident, another girl, Beena Naik disappeared while coming back from her friend’s house late in the evening. There was no demand for ransom in both these cases.

While Inspector Ranjan Raghav investigates these cases, he suspects this is not just a simple kidnapping case and some evil and frightening motive lie behind these abductions. While he investigates the case, the news of 2 more kids being abducted perplexed him and his team. All these cases had two similarities – only kids were abducted and there was no demand for money or anything else. The kidnapper was quiet.

What I love about this book is everything. A very thoughtful plot and a strong story line that keeps the reader engaged and entertained. The flow of the story is smooth and intriguing. It is a fiction but very intelligently written. No unnecessary action or drama is there but the required twists and turns are at the right place. This fast-paced mystery thriller book will keep you hooked for sure. Like me, you will also keep guessing the kidnapper at many stages, though I could not guess it right and was surprised to know it the end.

Kidnapping the kids, not asking any ransom, rather keeping mum, got me goosebumps. I love reading thriller books and this one sounds like a perfect read.
