Masala chai or coffee or green tea – What’s your take? #Instacuppa #SuperBloggerChallenge
When it comes to beverages, there are a lot of options available – tea/ coffee/ green tea/ nimbu pani/lassi/buttermilk and what not. Born and brought up in a middle class, Indian family, the most common beverage that I have grown up seeing is masala tea for adults and milk for kids. Whenever there were any guests, it was the first thing served along with some snacks. Though my journey with tea started quite early on as I hated drinking that glass of milk every day.
Now, tea and I are inseparable companions. I can’t survive without having tea first thing in the morning. I am prone to migraine attacks if I don’t get my daily dose of that warm cup of ginger tea. It won’t be wrong if I call tea my first love, a long-lasting one. Be it cold winter nights, or gloomy afternoons or friends get together, chai never loses its charm. I am happy with a plate of pakoras or samosa or just a sandwich, or merely dipping a biscuit in and along with my cup of tea.
People who know me closely, have seen me saying often that I can spend my whole life with buttered toast and chai. YES! I mean it. I try it with different flavors like ginger tea, cardamom tea, and masala tea. The fragrance of freshly brewed tea works magic for me and draws me toward it like a magnet.
My husband is not at all a tea person, he loves coffee and green tea. So, for the last 10 years, I had no chai partner but then I think, do I really need someone around when I am enjoying that cup of delight? Lately, my daughters who are just 3 years old have developed a penchant for tea as they see me sipping it every day. And secretly I feel elated that I will have my perfect chai partners down the years. I know I might get criticized or trolled or judged for giving them a little tea in their mugs. But honestly, I don’t mind if they have it a little occasionally as it is not harmful.
In fact, when they are fighting a cold, I brew milk tea (we call it Dudh chai) for them with a lot of Indian spices like basil leaves, cardamom, caraway, fennel seeds, cloves and it works wonder. Also if they have flatulence or an upset stomach, I give them milk tea with mint leaves. It soothes their stomach and helps relieve the pain too.
Another beverage I like is coffee in any of its forms – cold or hot. Depending upon the weather and mood, I pick one. And I have recently developed a taste for green tea as well as my husband drinks infused water and green tea daily. He religiously prepares both these beverages in InstaCuppa Green Tea Detox Bottle Glass for himself every morning and carries it to his workplace.
BUT…If I have to pick out of these three, I would any day prefer masala tea. As I am and will always be a chai lover. A big loyal fan indeed.
So, this was my take. When it comes to you, which one is your favorite? Masala chai or coffee or green tea?
