Beach, Rain, Breeze, and Romance at The Benaulim Beach, Goa – An evening to cherish
Sept 2014, when I and my husband were going through a challenging phase at work. Long working hours, deadlines to meet, working weekends had left both of us drained out and irritated. So, we planned a rejuvenating 5 days trip to Goa. For us, beaches work as the best stress busters. None of us is into water sports, we love sitting by the shore, feeling the sand, walking through the sea, and witnessing the hues of the sunset. Luckily we got a decent deal on a resort in South Goa so we booked it immediately.
September is said to be the off season so the city wasn’t crowded at all and we could explore the place at leisure. As it was monsoon season, it was drizzling occasionally but that didn’t stop us from discovering the idyllic coastal city. We enjoyed our bike rides in the lush green empty roads getting drenched. Close to our resort were a few beaches where we would visit there every evening after returning from the city fun.
BENAULIM BEACH, GOA
It was one such evening when we decided to visit the Benaulim Beach.
Situated in South Goa away from the hustle bustle of the city, a long stretch of empty sand, this beach is a great place to relax and perfect location for tourists seeking peace and tranquility. This enchanting serene beach has loads of scenic beauty and is famous for fishing and is mostly less crowded which makes it an ideal spot for rejuvenation. Here, you can also enjoy the watersports and rocking nightlife in bars /pubs around or enjoy a candlelight romantic dinner in the starry night in the presence of the moon and beach.
We started our bike and drove to the serenity. To our surprise, there was no one there. At first, we thought if it’s safe to go to a secluded beach but then we noticed a few operating cafes so resumed walking. And I am glad we did as it was an amazing experience. Our private beach as we called it for the evening. It was just the deep blue beach, sky and we. The tranquility of the place was soothing. This is what exactly we needed on our vacation. Peace. Away from the hustle bustle of the city, a place to re-energize.
We walked holding hands, feeling the waves touching our feet, talking, teasing and splashing water on each other, laughing and most of all soaking in the beauty of the orange sun, sand and sea. The cool and gentle breeze touching our bodies worked as a healer.
Soon, it started drizzling and boy, it was fun. It evoked the Bollywood Buff inside me and I was acting so filmy. Rains have their own charm, they get the best out of you, at least for a die-hard romantic like me. I was singing, jumping, dancing, in short – I was crazily enjoying those moments. Fully drenched, and shivering, we went to the nearest cafe on the beach and ordered a plate of hot pakoras and chai (tea). It was the perfect and deadliest combination of beach, rain, chai and those cozy moments.
With the sunset, it started to get darker and we had to return but we never wanted to. The place, that evening gave us countless memories to cherish for a lifetime. And I am smiling while sharing these with you all.
