Quintessential items, I never forget to pack before leaving for the vacation

Spread the love

Traveling is always fun but if it is not planned well, it can ruin your entire vacation. Planning is the most important part of every trip. Where to go, when to go, where to stay, what to pack, what not to pack, everything has to be decided much before you start to travel. You would not want to cry over the things you forgot to pack and shell out money to buy them later and keep collecting duplicate things. In this post, I would be sharing a few quintessential items, I never forget to pack before leaving for the vacation. So, here goes my list:

Powerbank:

This is one essential that I can’t imagine traveling without. As our GPS is always on in our phones, the battery discharges very soon so Powerbank comes to our rescue. As we are on the move most of the times except for a break at any eating joint, we don’t get charging units. Powerbank acts as a savior to us in such situations.

Umbrella/ Raincoat/ Wind Breaker:

This is one thing that many people tend to forget while packing their luggage. Despite checking the weather forecast before planning your vacation, sometimes it ditches us. Sudden clouds and rain spoil the mood and you are left with the only option of returning to the hotel. So, no matter in which season you are traveling, always carry an umbrella and raincoats.

Tip: Keep foldable and compact umbrella which takes less space and can be carried in the purse as well.

Extra Memory Cards, Camera, and their adopters/ chargers:

I love to click a lot of pictures and videos and capture every possible moment that means my camera is always full of memory. To avoid such a situation, I carry extra memory cards so that just in case I run of memory, I don’t lose on clicking more pictures. Also, the adapters and chargers of cameras, phones, and power banks are a must to keep.

Tip: Make sure you transfer all the old pictures into your laptop or external hard disk and make space in your camera. Take an empty camera and come back with abundant memories.

Sport Shoes:

While traveling, I don’t compromise on comfort. I love to explore every nook and corner of the destination I visit and our preferred mode of traveling is walking. So, no stilettos, no flats, no sandals during the trip unless I am decked up for a cruise or I am out on a beach. I keep an extra set for such occasions. Otherwise, my go-to footwear is a pair of rough and tough sport shoes.

Tip: Don’t carry a new pair of footwear ever while traveling. It might hurt your feet and spoil your vacay.

Hand and face tissues:

This comes in handy while traveling by road. Just for wiping your hands or freshen up your face, this is one thing I swear by. And when you are traveling with kids, you know you can’t survive with the wipes.

Medicine Kit:

This is another very important thing that I never forget to pack while traveling. This includes a few basic medicines for fever, headache, upset stomach, vomiting, ointment for muscular pain, bandaid, crepe bandage, cotton, and antiseptic lotion.

Itinerary Print outs:

I like to do things in an organized manner so I prepare an itinerary for our trip well in advance and carry a print out of it. It helps to save the phone’s battery for using GPS as I refer to the hard copy instead of the one saved in my phone.

Revolut Card:

I don’t carry a lot of cash with me during my travel. Only the nominal amount, I prefer to keep. Instead, I rely on my Revolut Travel Card which is truly a fantastic product I have come across. I need not worry about exchanging currency of the country I am visiting. I just keep recharging my card which can be done within seconds and swipe it in every part of the world without any hassles.

Tip: Make sure you have an internet connection to recharge the card. Carry nominal cash also of the country you are traveling to as many shops don’t accept cards if the amount is meager.

A few tips on what to pack and what not to pack

  • You don’t need any expensive items on your trip so go casual.
  • Opt for comfortable clothing and try to mix and match clothes using different combinations
  • Go for a tracksuit or leggings if you have a long flight. They are the best companions.
  • Keep a shawl or scarf as it not only gives a stylish look but also a pre-requisite in case you visit any religious spot.
  • Travel light, keep a small sachet of toiletries like shampoo pouches, small tubes of toothpaste and moisturizers. This makes room for shopping during the vacation.
  • Always carry a few plastic zip bags with you. These come handy when traveling with kids or you need to keep dirty, wet or used clothes.
  • Carry a list of emergency numbers handy, in your phone as well as in a small notebook too.
  • Keep a backpack with you loaded with a lot of eatables and water if traveling with kids.
  • Make sure to keep your important documents like Passport, resident cards, etc. handy and in hand baggage only.

So, these were a few things that I always carry while traveling apart from the general packing checklist.

What is your quintessential while traveling?

Those are some great options while traveling . Having physical prints is what makes me sorted the most, when I’m in an unknown place and walking the way all by myelf.

This is a great list. I always carry my charger, wipes, stole, umbrella. When I go on long vacations I try to keep mix and match clothes like 2-3 kurtas with the same lower. This ensures that I am travelling light.

I would agree with almost everything on your list. Just that I need to remember to keep the raincoats or Wind cheaters specially when going out with kids from next time onwards.

Very valuable advice. Along with the ones mentioned here, I also try to carry some kid friendly dry foods just to make sure that in case there’s a delay in flight or the road trip, we have enough stock to keep the boy busy and full.

I would add Goggles, atleast one book, a game or two for the kid, a small pillow. I too make a lot of videos and sometimes have to delete apps from phone to create some space. Carrying a memeory card seems good option. I lldo it next time.?
