Never forget your past and the roots!

Spread the love

School romance came a long way and love overshadowed the hatred of the families. Disowned by everyone, Dilip and Mita started a new life in one room rented chawl in Mumbai with absolutely nothing in hand. A piece of green silken cloth is all they had which they could call “something fancy”. They used it as a mat to cover the worn out, broken wooden table whenever they had guests at home. 2-years later, when their bundle of joy arrived, they used same cloth as his cozy silken bed sheet.

Days were tough but the couple stood by each other. They lived together the dream to start their cloth company. While Dilip focused on his job in a factory, Mita took up every possible opportunity that came her way. Both worked day and night, and saved every single penny.

Today, while having dinner in their own Company’s luxurious lounge, Prince recognized the same green cloth. It was beautifying the center table made of sandalwood in the lobby. With a spark and pride in his eyes, he said, “Now I understood what did both of you always mean never forget your past and the roots”.

This post is written as part of the #WoWe Blog Hop hosted by Mayuri and Rashi, as part of which we have to pen a story within 200 words on the given prompt. This is my entry for Week 3 based on the picture prompt which is the featured image of this post. Do leave your thoughts below!

Loved the story and the moral in it. “never forget your past and the roots”.
This story not only tells us to store a cloth or a thing but delivers a strong message- not to forget anyone or our history and get overjoyed with the present. But to be thankful what we have now and how did we achieve it.

How sweet! Many times an object (in this case the green cloth) can hold so much significance in one’s life. Nice story Vartika!
