Book Review: “Aarohi” by Anupama Dalmia, a multiple award winning writer #myfriendalexa

Spread the love

It has been almost 3 years I have not touched any book, except for my kid’s rhymes and bedtime stories. I had been reading the excellent reviews of Aarohi, from many fellow bloggers and could not wait to read it myself. Unfortunately, I was unable to download it here in Europe so it was one of the items on my bucket list on my visit to India. When it comes to reading, I am old school and still prefer reading physical books over Kindle. I feel the warmth of the words and emotions when I hold and read any book.

But as I had a strong desire to read Aarohi, finally, today my wait was over as I managed to download the Kindle version and in no time finished reading the e-book. It is written by Anupama Dalmia, who is a multiple award-winning, amazing author, whom I admire not just as a writer but also as a person. She has a knack for words, writes directly from the heart and weaves magic in all her articles and stories. Anupama never ceases to amaze me and her readers with her unmatched talent and sheer brilliance.

I am not a pro in reviewing a book and this is my first book review, so it will always be special for me. I hope I will do justice to it.

Author: Anupama Dalmia
Rating: 5/5

Plot:

The plot of the story is quite amazing. It is a page-turner story with a lot of twists and turns. The narration is smooth and intriguing. Loved how the author has described each and everything in detail. It’s a gripping tale and the end is heart-wrenching. The writing style of the author is engaging as always and the readers can easily connect with the story. The dialogues are aptly written. Interesting plot, simple language, beautiful narration and strong characters,  makes it an interesting read.

Summary:

Aarohi is a poignant and evocative tale of two friends, their common interest and the hard-hitting reality of our society. The story starts on a happy note which takes many twists and turns and keeps a reader hooked until the end, imagining what next. Anupama has chosen a sensitive topic which is generally swept under the carpet in our society. It is a moving and very well crafted story and never makes you feel bored.
Anusha, after completing her MBA, shifts in to live with her Dad, who is a retired Badminton coach. She meets Aarohi who shares the same passion and love for this sport and they bond over the Badminton court every day. Anusha feels an instant connection with Aarohi. The sudden disappearance of Aarohi one day makes the story intriguing and mysterious when Anusha goes to her house to inquire about her and was told that no one by the name of Aarohi lived there. Baffled Anusha decides to solve the mystery and then starts the roller coaster journey of emotions. The heart-wrenching climax is the sad reality of our society.

Awesome review of a brilliant book. You should attempt more book reviews Vartika. You have a knack for writing them by just giving away enough about the plot to draw interest yet keep the mystery. Many would be drawn to read the book now.

Intriguing! I’ll need to whittle away at my physically growing TBR pile, which now threatens to push me off my own bed and overflow all my bookshelves, and get a bit of my own writing done, first, but I’ve added it to my list.

This is such a crisp & nice review & it definitely doesn’t look like your first one, Vartika. For some special reason the book is drawing my interest apart from your narration of the plot. It stirs a lot of curiosity indeed.
