About the Book:

The Adventures of the JP Family is a debut book by the author. The book contains 26 short humorous stories that revolves around a middle class South Indian family. The author has shared some common day to day events in every chapter that makes the book quite relatable and interesting. You may find a glimpse of your own family members or neighbors or any of your relatives in the characters of the book. Its a light-hearted read and you can pick it up after a long day at work.

Summary:

The book is a compilation of 26 fun filled short and crisp stories. The artist in me was impressed because of the artistically designed titles of every chapter. The cover of the book is designed well as it showcases the animated avatars of the Mrs. and Mr. JP of the JP household. The title is appropriate as the book is all about the adventures of this witty family that belongs to a small district of Karnataka. A family of four – the couple and their two sons – Raju and Raghu.

The characters are compelling and as a result, you feel more connected to them. The language is simple and easy to comprehend. The narration is brilliant and you can actually see Mrs. JP ranting over and the boys gang blabbering. The entire book is laden with light and healthy humor. I liked how the author has added sprinkled fun in very ordinary and mundane situations of our day to day life.

Every story is different with a particular subject.

A few of my favorites are Exam time at the JP household which is the story of almost all the Indian moms and their mindset during the examination of their children. Leave it to Me cracked me up and I am sure most of the women would relate to it. Dacoits is an intriguing read and left me in splits at the end. The French Connection where the brilliant narration will transport you to the kitchen of their house where the family tries their hands on their new possession. To know what’s that, pick up the book.

Verdict:

This does not look like the debut book of the author as it is well presented and keeps the reader hooked. An easy breezy book that you should definitely check out. The tidbits of this witty family and their antics will surely tickle you and make you laugh. Overall a very entertaining and fun embedded book.
