How my taste evolved from masala tea to green tea over the years #SuperBloggerChallenge #Instacuppa

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

As I mentioned in my first post, I am a tea freak. When I relocated to Krakow, Poland, two things happened – one good, one bad. Let’s discuss the bad first, Indian tea was hardly available here. It was confined to only a few shops that too not always. Demand was more than the supply. And being a tea lover, it was the biggest shock for me. To survive without my daily dose of chai – I could not even imagine. For the first few days, I managed with the tea bags until I bought the tea leaves in abundance from an Asian store here. Since then, I made it a point to keep enough stock of tea leaves and refill it much before I run out of it.

Now, let’s jump to the good thing – As there was a shortage of Indian masala tea, I explored many hyper stores with a hope to find some but in that quest, I discovered various flavors of tea. To name a few – lemon, blueberry, rose, buttermint, mint, pomegranate & raspberries, wild berries, hot cinnamon, chamomile, honey vanilla and many more. To be honest, I had never tried any of these, in fact, no other flavor than the normal masala tea. And such a sudden encounter felt really soothing. So, I grabbed a few of these and tried one by one.

I absolutely loved them all. My husband is a green tea person unlike me and always encourages me to drink it too. So, finally, I evolved my taste from just masala tea to green tea. My favorites are rose, wild berries, and cinnamon. Though masala tea is all I want every morning to kick start my day but I am no longer finicky about it. I can happily settle with any of these flavored teas as well. The good part is these can be prepared quickly.

Benefits of Green Tea:
  • After a lot of coaxing by my husband, I explored the benefits of green tea and was really surprised to know that it is one of the wonderful things I missed all these years. It is one of the most popular and effective natural detox product available in the market. Detoxification means removing and flushing the toxins from your body. It is a vital biological process which is taken care of by our liver.
  • Green tea is packed with Polyphenols that have a direct impact on your liver and they’re antioxidants that fight the molecules called as free radicals. Polyphenols also help in fighting cancer and reducing the inflammation.
  • In a lay man’s terminology, you need a healthy functioning liver to detox your body properly. Green tea provides support to the liver in this function. It is a well-known fact that taking too much pain killers affect the kidney and liver. Green tea increases the activity of the enzymes and protects the liver from the ill effects of these medicines too. Hence, lowering the risk of liver diseases.
  • Green tea has some natural minerals required for our body. It also has EGCG (Catechins) which are the natural antioxidants that help prevent the cell from getting damaged and provide other health benefits too.
  • One important fact that I learned about green tea is that it has caffeine. It has lesser caffeine content than coffee, but good enough to produce an effect. It has amino acid L-theanine too, which works with caffeine in improving the brain function.

My detox bottle to quick fix green tea:

I gifted my husband InstaCuppa Thermos Bottle last year on his birthday which is made up of premium quality stainless steel. It is our go-to product every morning as he prepares his infused water to gulp it empty stomach daily. Then carries it to his office with freshly brewed green tea. Its heat resistant technology keeps the tea hot for a long time. It is airtight, leak-proof hence easy to carry, hassle-free. As it is made of glass and steel, it is totally BPA free. You can your Instacuppa Thermos Bottle here

So, this was my journey from being a masala tea freak to a healthy green tea person. What’s your story? Share with me.

An important thing to keep in mind is to buy a reputed brand instead of compromising with a low-quality product. The lower quality brand green teas may contain a large amount of fluoride. So, don’t settle with a brand name you have never heard of before. Check the reviews and the brand positioning before you opt for one.

I know Green tea has lots of benefits but it is difficult for me to give up on my dark devil – coffee!

But I am open to the idea of tasting this beverage, sometime soon.

This is the story of many of us and you have penned it so well. My taste for green tea evolved over time and now I prefer it to any tea with milk!

I was reluctant to make this shift, it happened years ago when I was in bookmyshow. My colleague asked me to try it once. Then twice and rest is history!

I think I am going to gift myself the Instacuppa water infuser. Enjoyed reading about your transition from a masala chai lover to a green tea appreciator. I wish I could bring this transition in my husband.

Arre but you can always get it from India. And I hope you have brought enough tea from India this time. Enjoy both the types. And yes, Instacuppa is perfect solution to make tea. #SuperBloggerChallenge #Instacuppa

I am not a tea freak. In fact, I just hate the taste of tea. But, when I tasted green tea for the first time, I liked it’s taste. (That’s unusual for anyone, I know). I have been taking a cup of green tea regularly since 2 years and observed a considerable enhancement in my physical stamina. As a doctor and as a green tea lover, I will recommend it to everyone. It also helps reduce blood cholesterol, so a good fit for people with cholesterol issues.
